Veterinary glucose meter
We are presenting you an extremely accurate and innovative veterinary Glucose meter that is measuring
and showing the Glucose and the Hematocrit. Hematocrit is the ratio of the volume of red blood cells to the
total volume of blood.
The measurement of the Hematocrit has the following advantages for you as veterinary doctors:
1. In addition to the Glucose result you are getting a Hematocrit result in 5 seconds which could be very
important in some cases.
2. Non-measured hematocrit is the factor that has th e biggest impact of the Glucose result error when
measuring it with a Glucose meter.
Below is an explanation why the Hematocrit has an effect on the Glucose result:
Measuring the hematocrit is extremely important for getting an accurate result. It is like that because this type of systems /working with test strips/ are using whole blood as a sample, but in reality measure the
concentration of the Glucose in the plasma. Taking this into account it follows that when having more or less plasma on the strip/sensor with the same Glucose concentration – the result will not be the same. The only way to understand what is the amount of plasma on the strip/ sensor is to measure the Hematocrit and only then you could expect a really accurate Glucose result.
